On Friday I took the new puppy and the pickup truck (sound redneck yet!) and went up in the hills to find that perfect Christmas tree. Need a permit to cut down a tree but I figured if I found a good one and was fast enough with the chop down job I could get away with it. After 20 minutes of driving slow and scanning the road the light from the sky illuminated that "one" tree. Problem was it was about 18 ft. tall. No worries. Saw the tree in the middle, get the top which is the best part anyway and continue on my way. Problem number 2. Huge 50 foot ravine on the opposite side of the tree. If this thing falls the wrong way, say goodbye tree and goodbye me if I hold on. But like any redneck I put in work and got the job done. Top that I cut off ended up being 8 feet tall after I sawed the tip off. Drove her home wet, drilled a hole put a stand in and now I have a tree that I can say we did work on! Just a side note. NO squirrel has jumped out of it yet. Still waiting. And Bear aka Rockhead loves that he has unlimited water to drink from at any moment of the day
